The Good Life

It used to be that you would have to go to an exclusive resort to get accommodation that combined upscale living, spacious quarters and fabulous waterfront. Now, you don't have to look any further than Lakeview Lodge.

Lakeview Lodge is located in the Hastings Highlands on a quiet bay on the pristine shores of Lake Kamaniskeg with over 135' of waterfront. The Lodge offers magnificent views of this substantial lake with over 50 km of water sport thrills with boat rentals available directly on the lake delivered to the dock (info available upon request).

Winter is also a wonderful time of year to visit Lakeview Lodge. There’s little more romantic than wrapping up warm for a moonlit walk on a frozen lake, with the smell of wood smoke in the air, and the canopy of stars glittering overhead. Returning to your cozy cottage to curl up in front of the fire or in the Hot Tub and reflect on yet another beautiful day in cottage country to round off an evening perfectly.

Lakeview Lodge is a summer and winter retreat available starting in 2014.

Come on in...

Let's start in the cottage itself. When you walk in, you will be greeted in the hallway by the light streaming through the floor to ceiling windows that face the lake. Chances are the lake will be calm and a deep blue in the sunshine. To your left, you will see an incredible fully equipped kitchen and dining area, complete with seating for your entire group and appliances that will delight any chef.

Every room in this cottage is a showpiece. The living room enjoys the most spectacular views, and a stone fireplace surrounds a magnificent propane glass fireplace insert that is decorative in the summer and functional on cooler nights. This is a great place for sharing a special bottle of wine or just relaxing with a book, bathed in the sunlight streaming in.

Up the stairs, those seeking something to entertain them will not be disappointed. A satellite TV/home theatre system makes movie nights an essential part of your stay, and a games room will have the card sharks going all in for a game of Texas hold 'em.

The bedrooms are elegant and will give everyone comfortable nights, listening to the loons and catching a cool night's breeze after a day in the sun. The master has an amazing en suite - you might want to make this booking on behalf of your group so you can claim this room.

From the main floor, the deck is accessed from the living/dining room and offers a panoramic view of the property and lake. The large lawn is a place where the kids might toss around a Frisbee before cooling off in the lake. An extensive 250 ft dock is a great place to catch some sun or jump into the cooling waters - oh and you can use it for boats too, of course. The lake is an interesting one, with a number of islands to explore and circumnavigate in a kayak or canoe. The screened porch offers views of the lake and access to 6 person Arctic Spa Hot-Tub to relax in after a busy day on the lake.

The town of Barry’s Bay is an 8 minute drive for your basic needs - like ice cream (available at the Barry’s Bay Dairy or the Frozen Yogurt Desserts store) as well as a Tim Horton’s, multiple restaurants and café’s, an LCBO, Beer Store, 2 grocery stores and a kayak/canoe outfitter. If you are bringing or renting a boat, you can launch at the Barry’s Bay wharf at the bottom of Dunn St.  We doubt you'll want to leave the cottage for very long, but if you do, the Madawaska Kanu Centre and Barry’s Bay Golf course are close by to tempt everyone in your group.

Lakeview Lodge is for those looking for a cottage that has it all. We think those who book this property will be delighted all around.
